Travel Diary: One night in Abu Dhabi

After spending four amazing days in Dubai we took a bus to Abu Dhabi where we stayed at the most impressive hotel I’ve ever been to – the Jumeirah at Etihad Towers. At our arrival they served us delicous fresh pressed juices and we felt like we arrived in heaven. The hotel lobby on its own is the prettiest I’ve ever seen – it’s so big and full of white marble.

After seeing the lobby we were super excited about our room and we weren’t disappointed at all. Our room was in the 28th floor where we had such a great view and slept in the coziest bed ever.

The hotel also has its own shopping mall underneath it (with shops like Chloé, Carier, Hermès etc.), an observation deck on the 74th floor at 300 meters and an amazing pool area with live music. We went half board so we could enjoy a super delicous dinner and breakfast. I’m craving for those delicous waffles and fresh pressed juices right now.

Before leaving Abu Dabi we visited the Grand Mosque which is one of the most famous attractions there. The mosque is simply stunning and breathtaking with its gold details everywhere. If you’re planning to visit the mosque you should be aware of the dress code. Women have to cover the head, wrists and ankles. You can borrow an abaya for no charge, but you should still arrive in loose fitting clothing covering the knees and wrists. I was so impressed by the prettiness of the mosque but at the same time I was melting away at 40 degress wearing a maxi dress and the abaya on top. No matter how hot it was, I will never forget this pretty place and I would highly recommend visiting Grand Mosque if you’re in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.

Travel Diary: Dubai

Dubai was our biggest and most impressive trip so far. Everything was just breathtaking and overwhelming. And our biggest challenge was definitely to survive the heat (38 to 40 degrees daily). The first three days we explored the city with Big Bus Tours which offered a climated bus and cooled water for free. You can take a „Beach Tour“, „Marina Tour“, „City Tour“, „Palm Island Drive“ and „Night Tour“. So we basically obtained a good overview of Dubai after those three days.

One of the most impressive things was the Dubai Fountain and the Burj Khalifa with its view from the 124th floor. It’s a magical experience we won’t forget too soon.

Our fourth day we spent at Aquaventure Waterpark which is on Palm Jumeirah. We had lots of fun there and would definitely visit the waterpark again. They offer a great range of slides and the „Lazy River“ where you can float around for quite some time without moving. I badly wanted to meet and hug dolphins at „Dolphin Bay“ but sadly we didn’t have enough time…so maybe next time? 😀
